Hôtel de Glace
Redesign of identity system across media types.
Student Project
The Hôtel de Glace is located in Quebec, Canada, and it’s the only hotel in North America to be completely made up out of ice and snow. Each suite is craved by different artists under the year’s theme, and besides the cold, what makes this experience so unique is that the hotel is only open 3 months out of the year.
The logo for the hotel is inspired by the word below 0. I created a horizon line between the H and the G, and with the H, I showed the dropping temperate.
Here are 3 different booklets, each representing a different as it decreases in size with each booklet.
“Glacière” highlights the process of how the hotel is built and the craftsmanship.
“Cold Feet” highlights the ice chapel, which sees around 40 couples within their 3 month period.
“On the Rocks” discusses the hotel’s 3 different bars, all made of ice, and their unique drinks.
For the posters, they connect in a series through a continuous line. One of the design elements is the goosebumps, representing the freezing temperature through circles lined up in the form of a snowflake.
It was important to have a website, which they currently don’t have their own, that emphasized the ephemeral aspect of the hotel, through language and a countdown.
